Nestled along the Mississippi River, Leopold’s Mississippi Gardens is one of those wedding venues that feels effortlessly special. With its mix of lush outdoor spaces, warm natural light, and relaxed elegance, it’s the perfect setting for couples who want their day to feel meaningful, personal, and a little bit free spirited. This wedding was full of intentional moments, unique details, and so much joy from start to finish.
The day began with the bride getting ready alongside her closest friends, surrounded by soft window light that filled the space beautifully. One of my favorite moments from the morning was when the bridal party paused to share a cheers together. It was relaxed, joyful, and set the tone for the entire day. Those quiet, unscripted moments before everything begins are always some of my favorites to photograph.
Instead of a traditional first look earlier in the day, this couple chose to see each other for the very first time at the ceremony. Ceremony first looks are always incredibly special, and this one was no exception. The emotion on his face as he saw her walking toward him said everything. It was one of those moments where time feels like it slows down, and you can feel how deeply meaningful it is for everyone present.
One of the things I love most about Leopold’s Mississippi Gardens is how many photo opportunities are right on site. The outdoor spaces along the river are beautiful and peaceful, making it easy to step away for portraits without ever feeling rushed. There’s a charming swing tucked into the landscape that made for some especially sweet photos, and every corner of the property offered a new backdrop that felt natural and effortless.
The reception was just as fun and unique as the rest of the day. Instead of a traditional cake knife, the couple used a sword to cut their cake, which made for some incredible photos and a lot of laughter. Once the dance floor opened, the energy stayed high all night. The DJ kept the party going and the space was filled with movement, connection, and celebration. Leopold’s does such a wonderful job creating an atmosphere where great vendors and great moments come together seamlessly.
The ceremony itself was full of thoughtful, personal details. Vintage boho rugs lined the aisle, creating a warm and intentional space that felt both relaxed and beautiful. One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was when they planted a tree together, symbolizing growth, commitment, and putting down roots. It was such a unique and heartfelt moment, and one that felt perfectly aligned with who they are as a couple.
As the night came to a close, it felt clear just how thoughtfully this day had been planned. From the quiet, emotional moments at the ceremony to the joy and energy on the dance floor, every part of the wedding reflected who they are as a couple. Celebrating alongside the Mississippi River, surrounded by the people they love most, made the entire day feel relaxed, meaningful, and unforgettable.
