This session was such a special one to photograph. Instead of simply updating family photos, this sweet family chose to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary in a way that included the two people who were not there on their wedding day yet, their kids. It turned into such a meaningful evening, filled with connection, laughter, and so many little moments that made this session feel like so much more than just photos.
We met in a beautiful open field in Central Minnesota during golden hour, where the family dressed up and created space to celebrate ten years of marriage together. It was part family session, part vow renewal, and completely full of heart.

One of the most meaningful parts of this session was the reason behind it. Mom and dad wanted to celebrate their anniversary, but they also wanted to create memories that included their children. Since their kids were not born yet on their wedding day, this felt like such a beautiful way to honor both their marriage and the family they have built together over the last ten years.
That is what made this session feel so special. It was not about recreating their wedding day exactly. It was about celebrating where they are now and inviting their children into that story.

As the sun started to get lower, they shared a quiet little vow renewal together out in the field. It was simple, emotional, and beautiful. The open sky, soft evening light, and peaceful setting made the whole moment feel even more meaningful.
There were so many sweet little details woven into it too, from the dressy outfits to the quiet way they looked at each other while reading their vows. It felt intimate and genuine, while still leaving room for their kids to be part of the experience in their own way.

This session had such a good mix of meaningful and playful moments. The kids ran through the field, snuggled up on a blanket, laughed together, and fully made the evening their own. I loved that this session did not feel overly formal. It still honored the importance of the anniversary, but it also made space for the real energy of family life.
That balance is always what I love most. The meaningful moments matter, but so do the candid ones. The laughing, the movement, the little interruptions, and the way kids naturally bring life into everything.

Some of my favorite parts of the evening were the playful details they included. They had cookies to celebrate, shared some dancing together, and the kids even got to borrow my Polaroid camera to take photos of their parents. That was such a fun and memorable part of the session.
It made the whole evening feel even more personal. Instead of just taking photos, they were making memories together in a way that felt true to their family. Those little touches added so much personality and made the session feel one of a kind.

One of the things I loved most about this session was how intentionally they included their children. This was not just a celebration for mom and dad. It was a celebration of the life they have built together. Their son and daughter were not just along for the session, they were part of the story.
From taking Polaroids to cuddling on the blanket to being included in family photos and little moments throughout the evening, it all felt so genuine. These are the kinds of sessions that end up meaning even more with time.

This anniversary session was such a beautiful reminder that photos can celebrate more than one thing at once. It was about marriage, family, growth, memory, and the people who matter most. Ten years after their wedding day, they chose to mark the occasion not by looking backward, but by celebrating what their love has grown into.
It was such an honor to document this evening for them, and I know these are the kinds of photos their children will treasure someday too.
